Welcome to our first ever Color Cure, a very specific spinoff of The Eight-Step Home Cure, which debuted in 2006 and is still going strong. This month I'm going to be providing tips on how to best use color in your home and we're going to all do and share a little work each week in our homes. But I've made it easy for you - I do the work on Monday and you only have to watch! The rest of the week, you can follow along by daily post and email, and then share your experience through commenting and submitting your own pictures. Join us!

Before & After: Monica's Color-Filled Living Room
The Color Cure
Moving into their new home, Monica and her husband faced the challenge of integrating their color scheme with the space's dominating woodwork. After collecting dozens of paint swatches, they settled on Sherwin-Williams' Beguiling Mauve, a color that satisfied their "preference for blues while having enough red in it to make the trim stand out less." Read on for after pics and an interview that reveals every detail about this color makeover...
Color Research: Find Colors You Love All Around!
The Color Cure
Inspiration is all around: from the moment you walk outside in the morning you're overtaken by visions of beauty, both in nature and in man-made objects. So, sit up and pay attention to that beautiful tulip plant making its splash in your neighbors' garden or perhaps think about coloring your living room with the hues from that skirt you've been coveting in your favorite shop's window.

House Call

I would describe my home as classic modern. Most of my walls and furniture are white and serve as a canvas for bold colored accessories and graphic patterns. Jessica's Gem in Kerrisdale
House Call
Name: Jessica
Location: Kerrisdale — Vancouver, BC
We found this gem of a character building in 2010, while hunting for a new, pet-friendly space and something to get us out of the suburbs and a little closer to work downtown...
Don't Believe the Hype: Blue Dining Rooms
Some people believe you shouldn't paint your dining room blue because it makes food less appetizing. No wonder blue dining rooms are the exception rather than the rule: Beiges, reds and whites are far more popular choices for our eating areas. But blue can be a gorgeous choice for the dining room. I say forget the color theories! And, anyway, with obesity rates like ours, maybe a little appetite suppression isn't such a bad thing!
